Tech-Huset helps LP Kolding with drawings for a new production plant
The challenge Tech-Huset has helped us solve this time is simply a matter of capacity. It has significantly increased our capacity from having people in several different positions and wearing many hats in the past, where we have now moved in a direction where we have technical designers and project managers who together form a project team.

Tech-Huset has helped us fulfill this role as a technical designer, partly to try out the concept, but also to add greater capacity in our technical department to carry out this task and to take care of it and adhere to deadlines and schedules vis-à-vis the customer.
It was clearly a quick execution on the part of Tech-Huset and combined with a close dialogue and there was a quick follow-up after start-up, whether it worked or whether there were any corrections, as well as whether we found that it lived up to expectations.
From the time I picked up the phone and called Ida, it didn't take long before Rasmus was sitting in my office. I don't think it took more than one week or fourteen days from when we called until we had him by hand. Fortunately, it was quickly established that it was a good match and he was staight on the task in no time.

What does LP Kolding do?
We make stainless tanks and process equipment for many different industries and during the past months have had a rapid development and have had a great need and made a consolidation of how we work here and rethink the way we are structured and organized . At LP-Kolding, we are in a larger growth phase and therefore we need to be able to fill the capacity challenges we get occasionally. They have come before and they will come again - and even to a greater extent than we have known before. Possibly also resources that need some skills that we may not have in-house. Additionally, if we are going to test a new market for our stainless steel tanks, this could also be a way to get started.
Our task is a 100% order manufacturing company, hence everything we do has never really been done before. We have most likely done something that is incredibly similar, but we have never done it in exactly the same way. So, even though there is a customer we have worked closely with for many years and know in many respects, their end customer is new. We then come in as a manufacturer and have to help them again. Hence, even though there are many things that are the same, it is nevertheless very different from time to time.
This is why it made good sense for us to bring in a technical designer who has some industry knowledge and will quickly get into the role and help make 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
Why use a consultant?
Using Tech-Huset for this task has been a strategic decision and on this task it has been necessary to use a consultant to a limited extent. This is what this type of task and project has been able to carry because, taking the size into account, it is a task that will be able to affect our organization quite a lot. By bringing Rasmus in from the outside, we get an extra shot of energy for the task and are able to solve the assignment with someone who is very focused on the task and is not caught up in everyday things. This has clearly been one of the good things about getting him on the team. What Rasmus did was actually quite a large order in our business. He drew 26 tanks in total: tanks that can all do different things, in different constellations and sizes.
Using a consultant is definitely beneficial when facing a peak load. Rasmus is now almost on target in relation to the drawing work and we ourselves have a production apparatus that can take care of what comes next. Getting our projects ready for production is often a bottleneck in our house and therefore we have both previously and in this case used Tech-Huset to help us with that need. It's easy and convenient compared to hiring new staff, recruit and hold interviews. This is also the service we get in the package.
In addition to all this, we also avoid having to have the capacity cost that comes with having to start up a new employee on the same scale as usual, when it is a project for a three month period.
The task
It all starts with us receiving some concept drawings from the customer, which we then work on and then we have a flow with the customer, where we have a design phase, where we clarify which studs are to be used, how many zip balls are to be inserted in the tanks. Rasmus has helped take over the design flow with our project managers, who have clarified what needs to be produced. After this, Rasmus has been the executing part and made the drawings, which are then reviewed by the project manager, who then takes it on internally in our organization. The 26 tanks will be used for a newly started factory where the customer will use it for a complete new production facility for food manufacturing.
