My name is Jens Bruun Nissen and I work as a mechanical engineer with +26 years of experience in the field. I have been employed as a consultant for almost 4 years at Tech-Huset. Right now I am working with the development of punching tools in 3D, where I update old 2D drawings of the tools.

My name is Jens Bruun Nissen and I work as a mechanical engineer with +26 years of experience in the field. I have been employed as a consultant for almost four years at Tech-Huset.
In my work as a mechanical engineer, I have worked in various industries and have been involved in many different types of tasks. I have made pyrolysis plants, rat traps for balconies and cold stores for the pharmaceutical industry - I have been around a lot of tasks. For the time being (November 2024) I am working with the development of punching tools in 3D, where I update old 2D drawings of the tools.
My educational background is as a technical assistant, where I learned to draw and construct in a different way with the basic drawing methods: analog - stick in hand, drawing machines and measuring tools. Subsequently, I have supplemented this with an engineering education, where things are all done digitally. Here I mainly work in the programs SolidWorks, Inventor and Vault.
I have been part of Tech-Hust for the past four years, and chose to become part of the consultancy when CTO Thomas Esbjerg contacted me through my professional network. I am incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to be permanently affiliated somewhere, and I will never regret that decision.
I understand the consultant's most important task as being the one helping experts who possess a lot of know-how to get the sparring they need and to come up with input that can optimize a project. The primary task is to meet deadlines and optimize the progress of the project, where the consultant becomes a dedicated resource and specialist. As a mechanical engineer, you can work in many different ways. I prefer to be in a specialized, executive role, working project-oriented and focused on a task.
As a consultant, I usually approach a team at the company I am working with. Here I would like to be given responsibility for a partial task on the project with a focus on construction, and then work on making the ends fit together. I dedicate 100% of my time at the company to getting the task solved in the best way possible. Sometimes the production maturation of drawings is also part of the task I am working on.
The advantage of being a consultant is the opportunity to get visit different companies and not have tasks that are too monotonous. I also experience the joy of having "new" (temporary) colleagues, and fortunately there are good people in many places. I enjoy the fact that the tasks are never the same and that I get to do diverse tasks instead of getting stuck. I have my professional responsibilities and enjoy taking responsibility for partial divisions of a larger project.
